Ida Baworowsky passed away on September 16, 2024 in Wheeling, Illinois. She was born on November 13, 1935 in Vaskeresztes, Hungary to Frank and Anna Fixl.
Born during World War II, she grew up amongst the communist rule in Hungary. When she was 20 years old, she courageously crossed the border to Austria and escaped to make her way to Chicago. This is where she met the love of her life Michael Baworowsky at a dance for refugees. Two years later, they were married and soon started a family together.
Ida loved cooking, baking and gardening. She had the most beautiful flower garden every year. She also liked to read German romance novels and listen to Bavarian music. Spending time with her family and cooking delicious meals brought her great joy.
She is survived by her sons John (Kathleen) and Ted (Linda) Baworowsky; her grandchildren Julie (Nathanael) Blake, Andrew Baworowsky, Christina (Jess) Baworowsky and her great grandchildren Eleanor Blake and Beatrice Blake.
She is preceded in death by her husband Michael Baworowsky, her parents and her brother Frank Fixl.
A visitation will take place from 5:00PM until 8:00PM on Monday, September 23, 2024 at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd. Arlington Heights, Illinois 60004. Prayers will begin at 8:30AM on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at the funeral home, proceeding to Immaculate Conception Ukrainian Catholic Church, 116 E. Illinois Ave. Palatine, Illinois 60067 for a Funeral Service at 9:30AM. Interment St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Chicago, Illinois.
