Donald was born to the late Gene Ussery and Tommie Gray Ussery on March 26,1934 in Marietta, Georgia and passed away in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on July 16, 2024.
Emily was born to the late Hoyle Sanders and Helen McAbee Sanders on October 16,1938 in Union, South Carolina and passed away in Little River, South Carolina on May 7, 2024.
They were united in marriage on June 15, 1956, and later blessed with one son. They were strong in their faith and of the Baptist religion.
They were both loyal employees of their respective companies. Don worked in the printing industry for EDM for 60 years and Emily worked at Old Dominion for 50 years.
They both enjoyed spending time with their family, taking care of one another and going to the beach. Don enjoyed golfing while Emily enjoyed shopping. They were both loving spouses, parents, grandparents, siblings and friends, who will be missed by all who knew them.
They are survived by their only son, Mike Ussery (Stephanie); their only granddaughter, Jamie Asbill (David); two great grandchildren, Jerzie and Cooper Asbill; siblings, Judy Lockhart, Sondra Auman and Jeanette Wilkes; and many nieces and nephews.
They were preceded in death by their siblings: Lance Sanders, MaryEllen Sumner, Jackie Ussery, Buddy Ussery, Bobby Ussery; and brother-in-law and special friend JB Lockhart.
There will be a celebration of life for Don and Emily at Advantage Funeral Home in Archdale, NC on August 10, 2024. Visitation will be from 11am-12pm, with the service to immediately follow, led by Jim McAbee.
The family would like to say thank you to everyone who helped love and care for them over the years, during their declining health.
