Cathy Colyer Martin, 78, went to be with her Lord on Friday, January 27, 2023 at the Hospice Home of High Point.
Cathy was born in Dayton Ohio, January 23, 1945, a daughter of the late Clair and Sylvia Ann Richardson Colyer. She grew up in Altoona and Canoe Creek, Pennsylvania and graduated from Hollidaysburg High School. Cathy worked with Boyer Candy Company until 1964, when she met her husband, Horace Kent "Red" Martin and they were married March 15, 1964. She was a military spouse until 1972, when they settled in High Point, where she worked at Flower's Bakery in Jamestown for thirty years. Cathy was preceded in death by her brother, Carl "Squirt" Colyer and her beloved family pet, Babe. She enjoyed camping with her family, Bluegrass music, concerts, movies, crafts and walking with the Silver Sneakers at the Y in Archdale. Cathy loved chocolate!
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, "Red" Martin; two daughters, Lisa Ann Martin and Jennifer Martin Earnhardt and husband Harold; a son, Horace Kent Martin, Jr. and his wife Amy Denise; six grandchildren, Robert Howard and husband John, Brandon Earnhardt and his wife Claudia, Andrew Earnhardt, Joshua Johnson and Samantha, Casey Johnson and Daniel Martin and his wife Zoe; four great-grandchildren, Dax, Zara, Zane and Sophie Rose; niece, Katrina and a nephew, Adam.
A Celebration of Cathy's life will be held Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 2 p.m. in the Advantage Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Craig Palmer. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1 until 2 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont or the charity of the donor's choice.
