A native of Chicago, IL, Vernita was born on August 9, 1947 to the late Adam and Lorraine Leis. She had a love for travel and spent the greater portion of her early life traveling the world. Something she continued throughout her life. She had a green thumb and spent most days tending to her yard and garden. She had a knack for decorating and often enjoyed updating her home as well as helping others decorate theirs. She was a wonderful wife, grandmother, mother, sister, and friend. She lit up every room with a one of a kind smile and an infectious laugh. Her heart was kind and filled with unconditional love for her family and friends. She will be deeply missed.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Lora Loggie and daughter, Amanda Wofford.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Robert Richard Riebel; daughters, Ashley Riebel and Jaime Wofford; grandchildren, Nicholas Barnett, Jonathan Barnett, Aurora Anderson, Ariel Anderson, Ava Rose, Rya Brown, Mia Brown, and Robert Brown; brothers and sisters, Robert Leis, Thomas Leis, Edie Leis, Regina Meyer, Teresa Dorsey, and Patricia Leis.
A memorial mass will be held at 11AM on Friday October 15th at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Roman Church in Apex. The family will receive family and friends following the mass.
