Sandra was born March 16, 1951 in Clinton, NC to the late George Singleton Pegram and Maybelle Rice Pegram. She was a resident of Wake County for most of her life, making Cary, Apex and Holly Springs her hometowns. She worked for many years at Henry Adams Elementary as a teacher’s assistant, as a waitress at Melba’s Cafe in downtown Cary, and finally as a homemaker.
She was an avid UNC basketball fan, notorious for calling Coach Smith to let him know what mistakes were made during a game. She was also known for her love of Elvis, much to her husband’s chagrin. Anyone who met her knew how she felt about Elvis and learned quickly not to disagree with her. Growing up poor, she taught her children to be respectful of all people and to appreciate even the smallest of things; for which they will be forever grateful. She gave selflessly and loved fiercely. Loving Sister, Supportive Mother, Caring Wife, Trusting Confidant. She was a force of nature and will be missed.
Sandra was preceded in death by brothers, George, Harold, Wayne, Rip, James; and sisters, Marie, Doris, Mary and Barbara.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, James Wilson (JW) Reagan; daughter, April Reagan Williams and her husband, Tommy; sons, Micheal Reagan and his wife, Elizabeth; and John Paul Reagan; sisters, Betty Reagan and her husband, Sherold; Juanita Bailey and her husband, Leroy; and Linda Sayers; brother, Robert Pegram and his wife, Debi; grandchildren, Skyler Harvey and Eowyn Williams.
A memorial service will be held 4pm Saturday, January 10th at Apex Funeral Home Chapel, 550 W. Williams St., Apex, NC 27502. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial or donation to the Salvation Army of Wake County, who many times ensured Sandra and her siblings had clothes and shoes in their youth.
