Ronald attended Saint Frances High School in Waterville, ME and entered in the US Navy in 1942 where he proudly served in the D-Day Invasion of Normandy during WWII. While on leave, in Virginia, in 1944, he met the love of his life, Mildred. Upon his return from service in 1946, they were married. He obtained a college degree in accounting shortly after the war. In 1955, they purchased a home at 306 Olive Street in Apex, NC, where they resided until their deaths. Ronald was employed with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company retiring with over 30 years of service. He took a lot of pride in his involvement with the Knights of Columbus, and the Apex, Cary and Raleigh Chamber of Commerce. He was awarded “Citizen of the Year” by the Apex Chamber of Commerce in 1992. Donald was also named “Ambassador for Life” by the Chamber.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Mildred Eubanks Perry; brother, Charles Perry; and sister, Joan Perry St. Hilaire.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Perry Wilson; son, Ronny J. Perry (Debbie); sisters, Elizabeth Perry Moren and Mary Perry Mongeon; five grandchildren, Francis Glenn Wilson III (Katie), Jason Edward Wilson (Donna), Amy Perry, Weston Perry and Hannah Adkins; eleven great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., Saint Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 3008 Old Raleigh Rd., Apex. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial, with military honors, will immediately follow at the Apex Cemetery.
