OBITUARY

Margaret Ann Mauney

14 April, 1937 – 29 October, 2022
IN THE CARE OF

Apex Funeral Home

Margaret Ann Mauney (known as Ann) of Apex, NC died unexpectedly on October 29th, 2022 aged 85. She was born in Harrow, North West London in April 1937, and had three sisters and a twin brother. Ann was the mother of three children, David, Justin, and Tony. Ann lived in many places throughout her life in England, Australia, and finally the United States. While in Cincinnati, OH she decided to resume her education. She graduated from University of Cincinnati with an AA in Social Work and a BA in Psychology. She earned LSW and LCP certifications, and received an M Ed in Counseling from Xavier University - all while raising three children.

Ann's passion for helping those in need inspired a 25+ year career working in some of the most

difficult areas of mental health, as a therapist, a case manager (for Child Protective Services), and

a liaison for the courts. She used her empathy, common sense, and positivity to help people of all ages and their families find a better life.

Ann eventually settled in North Carolina and enjoyed a twenty year marriage to John (David) Mauney III who passed away in 2021. They enjoyed music, travel, and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Ann enjoyed knitting, flower arranging, walking trails and parks, and was especially fond of dogs. She continued to enjoy a decent cup of tea and a nice English biscuit. She had a witty sense of humour, excellent fashion sense, and a surprising inner toughness.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Florence and George, her daughter Justin, and her husband David. She is survived by her sons Tony (Susan) and David; her siblings Theresa, Frances, and Tony; step-children Quinna (JP), John, and Miriam (Ryan); and five grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
