IN THE CARE OF

Apex Funeral Home

Gisela Gertrude Gaeta (Mayer), born in Stuttgart, Germany, passed peacefully on January 24th at the age of 84. Gisela’s journey led her to meet the love of her life, Anthony Gaeta, while he served in the US Army near her hometown. Their love story unfolded, and they were married on Christmas Eve. Together, they embraced a new chapter of their lives in New Jersey, where they raised a family.

Gisela’s zest for life shone through her love of tennis, culinary arts, gardening, and travel. She cultivated a life surrounded by caring friends and family, leaving a legacy of warmth and passion. Gisela was a vibrant member of the community, spending cherished moments with her family and friends at the Swim and Sports Club (SSC) of Flanders, NJ, where she played, socialized, and created lasting bonds. Gisela and Anthony enjoyed an early retirement in Durham, NC and made many lasting friendships during their years in the Treyburn community.

Gisela is survived by her husband of sixty years, Anthony, and their three cherished children, Patricia Gaeta, Jaqueline Benson, and Daniel Gaeta; their spouses David Foberg, Joshua Benson, and Kristine Gaeta; and her sister, Rita VanHoosan.

She is also remembered by her loving grandchildren, Elena Benson and Bryan Benson, who will forever carry her spirit forward. Their shared memories will be a testament to Gisela’s enduring impact.
