Gerald Wallace Abernathy

Gerald was born October 8, 1944 in Harnett County, NC to the late Silas Davis Abernathy and Elsie Lanier Abernathy. He was a graduate of Lafayette School and attended Barton College in Wilson, NC. Gerald was a veteran of the US Army National Guard and worked as a food broker retiring with over 38 years of service. He was a faithful member of Baptist Grove Baptist Church.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 53 years, Yvonne Abernathy; son, Conley White; and brother, Howard Abernathy.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Preston Abernathy, Max Abernathy, Billy Abernathy, Lane Abernathy

A memorial service will be held 2pm Tuesday, September 6, 2022 at Baptist Grove Baptist Church, 6140 Christian Light Road, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
