Getting our stethoscopes for the first time...

No words can capture the feeling of losing such an incredible person. We started as classmates, then friends, and ultimately brothers. We laughed, cried, and even prayed together through all the ups and downs of our journey. The impact he's had on my life as well the lives of everyone around him is immeasurable. His unwavering support, kindness, and the countless memories we shared will forever be etched in my heart. He inspired me, challenged me, and brought so much joy to my life as a brother. 
You will be missed... Till we meet again my brother.

This is hard and I can’t shake the brokenness within.  I am so so proud of you Davis. Besides the tremendous hurt and grief I feel, your passing makes me think about legacy. How will I be remembered when my time comes? The truth is, if I can leave one person feeling as proud of me as I am of you, that will be enough for me. I love who you are and I will miss you dearly brother!

The last time I saw Uzo, who was finishing his ophthalmology residency in Fayetteville, NC, was March 16. I'm so glad I got to see him and say to him then what I'm saying again now: Uzo, thank you for looking after Rebecca during her rotation in Fayetteville. She always felt safe with you. Thank you as well to his best friend and brother Obi. I'd never seen Rebecca happier during her VA rotations and it was thanks to her friendship with you two. I still feel incredibly sad about Uzo. Like his fellow residents, he worked so hard and sacrificed so much of his life to help others. He was going to make a real difference in this world as a retina surgeon. He was such a genuinely good, uplifting, and always-positive person, evident to anyone who got to meet and know him. Uzo, we were blessed to have you in our lives. Rest easy, friend. You are an inspiration and we will never forget you.

You were such an empathetic, smart and outstanding person. You was  the best brother /son/friend anyone could ever have. You were dedicated to your family/friends and you showed it in every single way. 

I remember you gave me the best advice while I was in college. Told me to hold my head up and stop doubting myself. 

You even came to see me when I was just about to have my daughter. You were adamant on seeing how I’ve been and man I wish I could go back to that time and hug you so tight.

You even reached out and congratulated me on my new creative journey and was so supportive ❤️

I’m going to miss you so much. I’m going to remember you forever and I’m glad to have known you. 

We were kids, me you + Paula and those memories will live with me, forever.

Last time I saw Uzo was in January when I visited Raleigh. We had so much fun together. Dinner, hot yoga, smoothies.

We all gathered a wk prior to graduation to make sure we got these shots!

I met Davis working in Newcomb Reading Room at Binghamton. We studied together a lot in college, he introduced me to Nigerian food in the Bronx when he did his rotations at the hospital I was at, and made tremendous efforts to meet up with me whenever I was traveling in town. We went hiking, tried out salsa dancing, ate a ton of food!

He visited me in my first apartment, and helped me get through some very uncertain times in my life. He has shown my family much kindness and knows me in ways most people don't. Davis has given me a lot of guidance in my career and personal growth. 

He loved loved life. I've never felt such deep sorrows in my life until I learned of his passing. The grief will stay with me forever.

Uzo has been an amazing friend to me from Day1. I feel so lucky to be able to experience true friendship and navigate adult life together. He made everything so fun! His laugh is contagious. He is one of my biggest supporters in life, I will miss you so much.

Prayers and Condolences to the Family of Dr. D. Anugo. Dr. Anugo was my OPTHAMOLOGIST @ the Fayetteville VA MC. I last saw him on 11 April and is Scheduled for a Follow-Up 9 May. I know it will be a" Bittersweet" appt; Bitter that you are no Longer With us, but Sweet Memories of the Great Knowledge and Eye-care that you've shown to me and your patients. You Are Truly Missed

Sweet Davis. He had a charisma about him that made people like him instantly. We went to high school together and then Binghamton. He was like an older brother watching out for me, but that was just who he was - someone who helped and listened when you needed a friend. I remember one time he showed up to my art show when I thought no one would come. He was driven and passionate with his goals, working so hard in his studies. We had some good laughs. I’m so hurt. Rest easy, friend.

I’ll miss you, friend. Thankful for the ways we got to do life together, and thank you for always rooting for me,  believing in me, and encouraging me. I’ll always remember that impact you had on me.

It still feels so unreal that you are gone Uzo. It is a painful loss for so many but we all take solace in the fact that you loved and were loved. It was a pleasure knowing you and you will be missed. Rest in power my friend

To the families and friends of Davis Uzo Anugo, I am so sorry for your loss. I too have a personal loss as Dr. Anugo was my Ophthalmologist at the Fayetteville, NC VA Health Care Center and I was scheduled for Cataract surgery with him on Friday, April 24, 2024. I had full faith and credit in Dr. Anugo's abilities. He was kind, gentle, and attentive to his patient's needs and questions. I cannot grasp the fact that he is gone as I had just had an appointment with him on April 17.
He is so sorely missed by this veteran. Richard D. Herndon.

Met Uzo during our first day of med school and shared some amazing memories with him. I’ll always remember him as someone you can count on, genuinely good guy, who wanted the best for his friends. Will miss you deeply bro.

Davis made everything more fun no matter who he was with or what we were doing, it was always a great time. He was an amazing person and will never be forgotten.

Sad to hear of the recent passing of Dr. Anugo.  He provided quality, compassionate care to his Patients and had a bright future in Ophthalmology ahead of him.  A couple days before his passing,  the Eye Clinic had a time of food and fellowship to celebrate a Baby Shower.  So thankful we were given that opportunity.   Will be praying for friends and family during this difficult time.  Dr. Anugo will definitely be missed!

2/3/24- 2 hour unforgettable car conversation with Davis this day after the weeding. Offered lots of encouragement! I don’t think he realized I needed it. Always caring, always checking in! Rest in peace brother.

I encouraged my fellow Nigerian friend to join a Pre-Med Fraternity. We became fraternity brother and sister. He accomplished the goal of becoming a  medical doctor because of his drive and natural intellect. You can tell from my face in this picture, that I strayed from that path. Love you, bro!
