Brett was born September 26, 1975 in Easton, Pennsylvania to Thomas and Nan Merrick. As a boy, his playful and mischievous spirit was often seen by his sisters, cousins and neighborhood friends. During his youth, Brett was active in sports, including soccer and wrestling at Apex. He graduated from Apex High School and then NCSU with a degree in Materials Science Engineering. After college, he married his best friend and high school sweetheart, Amy Marynak, in 2005 and they lived in the Raleigh area. Brett was an active father and adored his two young children, Paul and Ripley. In addition to his family, Brett’s passions included woodworking, fishing with his son and dad, reading and Hurricanes hockey. He is co-owner of King Tutt Graphics of Raleigh. A loving, sensitive husband, dad and friend, Brett’s sweet nature, innate charm and quick wit will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife Amy Merrick, he is survived by his children, son, Paul Merrick; daughter, Ripley Merrick; his parents, Thomas and Nan Merrick; his sisters, Regan Trent (John) and Pinda Harkey (Adrian).
A memorial service will be held at Apex Funeral Home on Saturday, March 30,2019 at 2:00 PM. There will be a reception for family following the service.
