Barbara Ann Whitt, age 89, of Cary, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Barbara was born on July 5, 1933 in Alamance County (Swepsonville), NC to Armstead Cletus Thompson and Blanche Thompson.
Barbara retired from Cooper Industries. She loved and dedicated her life to her family and friends. She was active in her church, Community of Christ Church in Cary, NC, and enjoyed playing seniors’ bingo and having a cup of coffee with her friends. Barbara loved to read and did so constantly.
The one name that made her happiest was “Granny”. From the minute her only grandchild, Mickayla, was born, nothing or no one brought her greater joy or pride.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jimmie R. Whitt, Sr., a sister, Patsy Thompson Smith, and two brothers, Freddie Thompson and Teddy Thompson.
She is survived by sons Jimmie Whitt, Jr. and Tommy Whitt and her beloved granddaughter Mickayla Whitt.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be donated to the SPCA of Wake County.

Graveside services for Barbara will be on held Friday, January 27, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Apex Cemetery, 100 Upchurch Street, Apex, NC 27502.
