He received his BA degree in 1980 from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and received his law degree from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, MN, in 1983. He began his law practice at a small firm in Minneapolis, MN. He later opened his own practice in Anoka, MN, then moved his practice to Champlin, MN, in 1997.
Scott was an avid outdoorsman his entire life; trapping, hunting, fishing, boating, and countless camping adventures on the islands of the Susquehanna River with family and friends. He continued loving the outdoors during his time in Minnesota; hunting with lifelong friends, various hunting trips out of state, fishing and boating on Leech Lake, numerous fishing trips to Canada with friends and family, camping with extended family throughout MN and, in recent years, snowmobiling in the Walker, MN, area.
Scott also spent many years volunteering for Special Olympics MN coaching his son, Carson, and numerous other athletes. He had a special bond with his daughter, Ellen, and was so proud of her accomplishments throughout her life. He was smart with a quick, sarcastic wit, friendly, caring, outgoing, helpful, a taskmaster, organizer, a hard worker, a collector of various antiques and loved spending time with his family and friends.
Scott and his wife moved to Dayton, MN, in 1991 where they raised their family and continued to live at his time of death. He served on the Dayton Planning Commission and Dayton City Council for a number of years. He enjoyed serving his community and continued to be interested in city matters throughout his life. He made lifelong friends in his neighborhood and loved his home in Dayton. He continued to love Pennsylvania, referring to it as “back home.” He will be missed dearly by all. We love and miss you, Scottie!
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date in both Minnesota and Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers or donations, if you wish to honor Scott, you can do so by spending time outdoors and enjoying your favorite beer or cocktail.
