Where do I start?  I have so many fond memories of Richard.  From showing Richard and Sherry homes to buy, to their lovely wedding and of course working at Bama Cellular.  I can still see Richard driving down Quintard Avenue in Peanut.  Richard was a man of great integrity and kindness.  He loved his friends and family and I feel so very fortunate to have known him.  Richard you will be missed by so many.  Rest in peace my friend.



Richard Burke, I didn't really know him by that name, I only knew him as dad.
A dad with the most kind and loving heart, a big heart.
He loved to love and would help anyone or anything if he could.
Even though he would be stubborn at times but he was just as determined.

He always put thought into everything he did so he would put his whole heart into everything he did.
Even when he had my brother and I he became the best dad in the whole world. Of course that being said coming from me being his daddy's girl.

He was my life and he knew and understood me more then anyone else. I remember as a little girl  many wonderful memories, As he devoted his life and hugs to us.
He was a great provider for us and was good at being a dad.
He would be home every night after work and be there for us always.
He was very patient with us and was never cross with us and would take the time to sit us down and explain things. He loved to make us laugh and smile. And he was a hard worker. He wanted the best for us more then anything and he succeeded at that.

He was also a loving papaw.
He loved each grandchild and enjoyed being with them.

I remember when I was a little girl I would follow him around, and it  probably drove him crazy, but I would read or tell him jokes,I did this just so I could hear him laugh and see his beautiful smile and see his blue eyes sparkle. 

Also every Sunday he would hold me on his lap as he would read me the Sunday funnies or comics that was in the Sunday newspaper.

We would laugh together our favorite one was Peanuts, Charlie Brown with Snoopy.
Dagwood was second best.
We always loved Snoopy together ever since, to the point we kept in touch now days through Messenger and we loved exchanging Snoopy stickers. I'm going to miss all that and so much more.

I'm not really good at words but there is so much more wonderful things about him and wonderful memories that words can't tell.
He will always be in my heart. Dad we will see each other again one day. 

My Dad;
  Life goes by so short, it sometimes feels just like yesterday when dad was teaching me how to play baseball out in the backyard, then later on he was the head coach of the, “Indians” for one year, then the next year was the head coach of the “Cardinals” for the N.Y.A.A. softball league.
But softball wasn’t the only thing we did together as I was growing up, there was Cub Scouts where dad helped me build a pinewood derby race car. Here I started to carve out a figure of a race car out of wood, paint it and dad helped me put on the wheels.
One day I decided to get into control line airplane flying, dad bought an airplane from the local drug store and wanted to be the first to fly it. I started up the gas powered engine and let go of the airplane. Dad had control for about two times around then he started to get dizzy and the next thing you know the airplane was all over the air then it crashed. Dad said that here must be an easier way, and there was. Radio Control. Here he joined a local RC club and had won several awards for his flying, even showed movies of the club contest from a movie camera that he bought just to show for enjoyment at the club’s banquet dinner at the end of the year.
Later through the years  I got married and started to have a life and family of my own, and saw less and less of dad.
One fond moment was the Blizzard of 78, whereas in the winter of 1978 we had a 16 inch snow fall that crippled the city. Two days later we were able to get out and took our cameras to the Indianapolis Airport and took pictures of the snowplows building up huge piles of snow to clear the way for the jet airliners.
Christmas’s and birthdays we would come together for the occasions sharing each year that passed.
In conclusion: My dad never abused us, never rebuked us, but was an encourager, someone who supported us in decisions, and when we were feeling low. We knew that we could always count on dad to help us and that he would always be there.
