James Edward Smith, 84, of Ohatchee, passed away at his home on Thursday, January 25th 2018. He is survived by his children, James W. Smith (Mary Ellen), Phyllis Jones (Arnold) and Sandy Fields (Jimmy), 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, 2 sisters and many other family members. He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mildred Smith; daughter, Patricia Smith; parents,
Ervin and Velma Smith; brothers, Guy Smith and Garron Smith. Mr. Smith was a longtime resident of Ohatchee and attended Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. He proudly served in the United States Army for 21 years and was a Korean War Veteran. Funeral Services for Mr.. Smith will be Monday, January 29th 2018, at 11 am, at Gray Brown Service Mortuary with Bro. Rob Turley officiating. Burial will follow at Jacksonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
