Frances McKerley

was 81.

Left to share many happy memories are her sister and caregiver, Sarah McKerley. Her nephews

Michael McKerley (Erin) and Matthew McKerley (Karla) and her niece Karla McKerley-Battles

(Darrell). Sister in Law Bonnie T. McKerley.

Her legacy lives on through her great nieces and nephews: Lainey J. McKerley (Chris),

Kade-Mica David McKerley, Nadja Mae McKerley-Geier,William Raphael McKerley-Geier, Alyvia

Battles, Luca McKerley, Ione Sophia McKerley-Geier, Isabella McKerley and Colm Gabriel

McKerley-Geier. And her great-great nephew and sharer of her favorite color, green, Jaxon

Pederson. Along with an amazing extended family whom she loved beyond measure.

Awaiting her homecoming were her parents Howard and Eula Mae(Scott) McKerley, her eldest

sister Ruth McKerley and youngest sister and Shirley Ann McKerley and her brothers H. David

McKerley and Charles McKerley

Serving as pallbearers with gratitude from the family are: Alyvia Battles, Darrell Battles, Thomas

Dodson, Clyde Fondren, Larry Fondren, Matthew McKerley, Michael McKerley and Nadja Mae

McKerley.

Devoted to her family and adored by her nieces and nephews for her quick wit and frank

manner. Frances served her Lord faithfully at Mt. View Baptist Church in Alexandria where she

had been a member since childhood. She was a highly regarded cook and baker, especially

known for her desserts, dumplings and biscuits and took great pride in every dish that was

created in her kitchen.

Miss McKerley was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County and a 1959 Alexandria School

graduate. She began her career as a grocer by working in the family store situated next to their

home on HWY 431 in Wellington where she also made cement planters and birdbaths to

support her brothers through college. This led to working at what was originally known as Mr.

Wilkins’ store but is now referred to by Valley Cubs as “Pages”. Being the hard worker that she

was she did anything that was asked of her from pumping gas to working in the deli. Her career

expanded over forty years of service and upon retirement she was employed as the General

Merchandise Manager in a Bruno’s company store. A more dedicated worker you would be hard

pressed to find.

Funeral services for Frances will be Sunday, September 25th, 2022, 2:00 p.m., at Mt. View Baptist Church in Alexandria, AL. Burial will follow at Crook Cemetery in Ohatchee, AL. The family would like to welcome friends, Saturday, September 24th, 2022, 5-7 p.m. at Gray Brown-Service Mortuary.
