Graveside services for Mr. Donald Forrest Dobbs "Buddy", 80, will be Saturday, December 23rd, 2023, at Forestlawn Gardens Cemetery, Anniston, Alabama at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. Garry Ragsdale officiating. Mr. Dobbs passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Thursday, December 21st, 2023.
Mr. Dobbs was preceded in death by his grandparents, Irene Odom Ledbetter, William Arthur Ledbetter, Howard Elzie Dobbs and Annie Bryant Dobbs; his parents, Donald Fletcher Dobbs and Addie Frances Dobbs; his sister and brother-in-law, Teresa Ann Dobbs and Gary Wallace Smith.
Mr. Dobbs is survived by his wife of almost 53 years, Jo Ann Dobbs; two daughters, Amanda D. Cobb (Brent) and Melissa D. Whitten (David); six grandchildren, Chandler Cobb (Alyssa), Chase Cobb (Emma), Morgan Whitten, McKinley Whitten, Madison Whitten and Cason Cobb; two great grandchildren, Tucker Elijah Cobb and Emerson Louise Cobb; two sisters, Doris Stubblefield (Harry) and Clara Borders (Tony), including several nieces and nephews and he loved all of them greatly.
Pallbearers will be David Whitten, Brent Cobb, Chandler Cobb, Chase Cobb, Cason Cobb, and Tucker Cobb.
Mr. Dobbs graduated from Lincoln High School in 1961 and attended Jacksonville State University. He joined the Air Force and served his country for 4 years overseas. He retired from Anniston Army Depot and enjoyed helping with his grandkids and gardening. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church for 61 years where he enjoyed serving in any capacity needed. He was a Godly example to all and a faithful servant.
