February 19, 1981 - November 26, 2023
Vincent McNair van Dillen, age 42, of Annapolis, Maryland passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023. Vincent was born in San Mateo, California to his loving parents, Lailee McNair Bakhtiar and Erik Jacobus van Dillen. He was raised in Hillsborough, California with his sister, Soraya Coppolino (van Dillen) and brother, Hague van Dillen, where he played racket sports during the day, rode bikes until dusk and made lifelong friends.
He was an alum of Episcopal High School in Alexandria, Virginia, co-captain of the Varsity Squash team, and a Latin Honors student. He graduated from Menlo College in Atherton, California, with a Bachelors of Science in Management. He was an avid learner, passionate about education, and always in pursuit of his next degree or certification.
Vincent was gifted at squash and tennis. He played his entire life, competing in local tournaments at Peninsula Tennis Club in Burlingame, California and Truxton Park in Annapolis. Most recently, he was an active member of the United States Naval Academy squash community. He loved walking along the waters of Eastport, Maryland and Annapolis' City Dock. He treasured his hikes along coastal Northern California and walking down Burlingame Avenue where he'd meet and greet dear friends and local family.
He loved the Lord and attended Church services throughout the week, throughout his life and everywhere he went. When he walked the town, he was walking with the Lord. He shared his joyful laugh and genuine smile with everyone. He led by example. He led with love, always the first to greet people with a warm hello and firm hug.
Vincent is survived by his father, Erik Jacobus van Dillen, San Mateo, California; his mother, Lailee McNair Bakhtiar, Annapolis, Maryland; his sister Soraya Coppolino, Bethesda, Maryland and brother Hague van Dillen, Woodinville, Washington State. He was beloved by his step-mother, Barbara van Dillen, and his step-brother, Jack Brookes and step-sister, Hadley Brookes. He will be missed by his fourteen cousins, and his five precious nieces and nephews. His enormous heart and uplifting laugh will never be forgotten. We love you Vince.
