Kenneth Fowler Walsh (“Kenny”), beloved husband, father, friend, and Papa, passed away New Year’s morning at home in Arnold, Maryland. He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda, daughter, Cheyenne Cantler, stepchildren, Brenda Velez (nee Blake and husband Ricky), Candice Blake, and Matthew Blake; grandchildren Delilah, Sofia, Piper, Nathaniel, Ezekiel, and Finn, his sister Joanne Kane (and husband Gordon); his lifelong friends Danny Spadone, Stanley Newquist, Peter Clay, and David Grobani; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Born on December 2nd, 1958 at Hospital Point the former Navy Hospital of Annapolis, Kenny was the son of the late Evelyn (nee Fowler) and Joseph Walsh and attended Annapolis High School. Soon after graduation, Kenny enlisted in the Marine Corp and served as a corporal until his honorable discharge four years later. Kenny was immensely gifted in multiple professions and worked as a plumber, electrical engineer, and educator for The U.S. Naval Academy, though he credited his first “job” as a seller of crabs out of the back of his wagon as a young boy.
Kenny was born and raised in Annapolis and was active in his community as well as a member of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church. Whether he was fixing a leaky pipe, going shooting with friends, or following the Grateful Dead on tour, he was known by many as a generous and kind man who was always good for a laugh. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, adding to his gun collection, listening to records, watching cooking shows, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. He could fix any problem around the house, made a legendary cherry cheesecake, and was notorious for his blues festival T-shirts and “hippie” ponytail. Kenny had just recently celebrated his retirement and was looking forward to traveling with Brenda and having more time to spend with family. He is predeceased and now joined in the loving embrace of his daughter, Sierra, and his brothers, James (“Jimmy”) and Timothy (“Timmy”).
