Eileen Frances (Kelley) Fitzgerald passed away, very peacefully, on 9 July, 2022 at Ginger Cove in Annapolis. Born on 23 July, 1929 in Milford, MA to Dr. Francis X. and Eileen Kelley, Eileen attended Emmanuel College in Boston, graduating in 1951 with a degree in Spanish. She was then recruited, along with a number of her classmates, to a federal government job in Washington, DC as a linguist. It was here she met her future husband, Edward Fitzgerald, and they were married in May 1955.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years Ed, and her sister Janice K. Ott. She is survived by her daughters Kerry (Marty), Ellen (John), four grandchildren Brian, Claire, Riley and Kara, sisters and brothers-in-law Jim and Eileen (Cookie) Fitzgerald, Ann Murdock, and David Ott, many nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends. She was a lifelong Red Sox fan and she loved to travel, having had an opportunity to live overseas in England for several years in the mid 1960’s, and later relished day trips and weekend getaways with Ed. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, and entertaining family and friends. She was active in St. Mary’s parish, volunteering as a Eucharistic minister at Anne Arundel Medical Center for many years until declining health limited her activities. Her family extends special thanks to the staff at Ginger Cove Health Center for their compassionate care.
A visitation for Eileen will be held Sunday, July 17, 2022 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester St, Annapolis, MD 21401. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, July 18, 2022 at10:30 AM at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 N. Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401. Burial is private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Eileen's memory may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor in Washington, DC or the Alzheimer's Association.
