Mary Ann Tice passed away after a lengthy illness with her children by her side, on July 19th at age 84. Mary Ann was born on July 28th, 1937, in Ypsilanti Michigan to the late James A and Edna (Welch) O’Sullivan. Mary Ann attended Saint John’s Elementary School and Saint Thomas High School in Ann Arbor where she met her husband William Francis Tice. They were married for 61 years prior to Bill’s death in 2017. Together they owned Tice’s Party Store on The University of Michigan Central Campus. Mary Ann graduated from EMU with a degree in hospital administration and managed the Snow Health Center on EMU’S campus until her retirement.
Mary Ann and Bill had 5 children; daughter Kathy (John) Frey, son Dennis (Kari) Tice, son Matt (Kim) Tice, daughter Susan Tice Niethammer (Dennis), and son Chris Tice 12 grandchildren; Jeffrey (Natalie) Frey, Thomas (Caitlin) Frey , and Kelsie (Rick) Chrzasz; Tony Tice, Kelli (Peter) Fitzgerald and Ryan (Margaret) Tice; Kyle (Rachel) Tice, Krista Tice, Kevin Tice and Konor Tice, Clyde William ( Bill) Coburn IV and Nathaniel Swanson Tice. 6 great grandchildren; Harper Ann and Reese Elizabeth Frey; Finn Dennis and Thomas Gearoid Fitzgerald, William Francis Tice III; and Charlotte Ann Tice.
Mary Ann was an active volunteer in her community, she worked at Emmanuel House in Ann Arbor, Meals on Wheels, Saint Thomas Booster Club and Huron Valley Girl Scouts.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to Emmanuel House in Ann Arbor, where Mary Ann volunteered or to The St. Francis Educational Trust Fund.
We would like to honor the aids and nurses at Storypoint in Saline who cared for our mother with such love they became family; Lori, Hannah, Danyelle, Rebecca, Kanesha, Brenda, Caylee, Lori, Clara, Tanisha, Theresa, Tia, Shaniya, Alex, Brionna, Brooklyn, Carmen, Clara, Italia, Jhai’la, Kelsey, Liz, Morgan, Olivia, Serenity, TaLiyah & Zach. Memorial Visitation for Mary Ann is on Thursday, July 28th, from 5:00-7:00pm with a Prayer Service at 6:30pm at Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 S. 4th Ave., Ann Arbor. A Funeral Mass will be on Friday, July 29th at 11:30am at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2250 E. Stadium Blvd, Ann Arbor. Visitation at church begins at 10:30am.
