She was born to the late Colonel Cornell Dent Booth and Joanne Darby Booth on January 14, 1938 in New York City NY. She graduated from High School in Augsburg, Germany in 1956 and received a BS in Biology from Longwood College in Farmville VA in 1960. She married Dr. William Noble the same year and they moved to Baton Rouge LA where they both worked for Louisiana State University while pursuing graduate degrees. In 1963 they spent a year in India conducting research and relocated to Columbia MO in 1966. Louisa received an MA in Rural Sociology from Louisiana State University in 1969 and they returned to India for another year in 1971. In 1974 she married Dr. Rodney Moag and moved to Fiji the following year. After three years in Fiji, they moved to Ann Arbor MI in 1978. Louisa earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan in 1984.
Louisa was a social worker at the Ann Arbor VA Hospital for 24 years. She worked passionately to help veterans receive the services they required, both during their hospital stay and once they were discharged.
She enjoyed golf and home renovation projects with her third husband, Dr. Harold Fachnie, to whom she was married from 1990 until his death in 1994. She also enjoyed contra dancing, German Fest, movies, pinochle, travel, friends and family. Louisa retired in 2002 and moved to Albuquerque in 2008 to be close to her children and grandchildren. She was loved for finding the humor in any situation, her boundless kindness and her energy. She was an adoring and devoted mother and grandmother. Her legacy to all who knew her is to laugh and to enjoy life.
Louisa is survived by one sister, Helen Booth of Gainesville FL; two daughters, Catherine Noble (Nicholas Nuccio) of Albuquerque NM and Jennifer Noble (John Hellier) of Peralta NM; two step-sons, Hugh Moag of Bothell WA and Jeff Moag (Nyssa Williams) of San Clemente CA; and two grandchildren, Sophie Nuccio, 7 and Max Noble, 5.
A memorial service will be held in Ann Arbor MI on Saturday, December 3 at 1:00 pm, at the Muehlig Funeral Chapel, 403 S. Fourth Ave., Ann Arbor MI, 48104 .
