Hilda Emma Ward of Ann Arbor, MI passed away on 11/4/23 at the age of 90 years. She was born on 2/23/33 in Ann Arbor, MI where she grew up with sister Frieda Peters and brother George Mast. She graduated from Ann Arbor High School. She met her husband Donald Ward at Fingerle Lumber Company where she worked as an accounts payable clerk. She paused work to be a full time homemaker for 13 years raising their four children, Jill St. John, Julie Ward, Daniel Ward and Jodi Cohen before returning to work, first part time and then full time at the lumber company for a total of 31 years. She was actively involved in her church, including the Women’s Bible Study Group and pretzel making and enjoyed playing Liverpool and Bridge; at one point she belonged to four different Bridge clubs. She was an avid fan of UofM football and Tigers baseball. Upon retirement, her husband made her a set of golf clubs, taught her how to play golf and they played couples golf in a league. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ward; her parents, sister-in-law, brother-in-law and son-in-law. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister, brother, cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Arbor Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Hilda in her final days. We also thank Rev. Diane for visiting her weekly. Family and friends are invited to attend a Visitation with the family at 10:00 am and a Service at 11:00 am at Bethlehem United Church of Christ at 423 S. Fourth Ave, Ann Arbor, MI on Tuesday, November 14. Interment to follow the Service at Bethlehem Cemetery, 2801 Jackson Road, Ann Arbor.
