Susan Kay (Hildreth) Dalasta, age 81, passed away on October 24, 2024. A visitation will be held November 5th, 2024, from 5:00pm - 7:00pm at Ankeny Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on November 6th, 2024 at 11:00am at Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
Susan was born on March 24, 1943 Richard and Beryl (Smart) Hildreth in Salt Lake City, Utah. The family moved to Ankeny, Iowa when she was a young child. Sue attended Ankeny High School and graduated in 1961. She met Dan, and they married on April 7th, 1962. Soon after, their first child, Kevin, was born in 1963. Kurt, their second son, was born in 1964.
Sue was an avid cross-stitcher, and stitched all of the grandchildren's baby blankets. She loved traveling in the motorhome with her family. Dan and Sue drove across the country in their motorhome, but they always had their favorite spots. She was also a dog lover. Sue took her dogs with her everywhere. One of Sue's favorite things in the world was babies; she always wanted to see and hold the babies whenever she had a chance to. Sue became a second mom to all of the friends of her children. She may have loved to give everyone grief, but she always brought warmth and love to a room.
Susan is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dan Dalasta; children, Kevin and Kurt (Jamie) Dalasta; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; and her brother Rick (Robin) Hildreth. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Beryl Hildreth, her brother, Roger Hildreth, and her sister, Jo Ann Bidler.
