Clifford Lewis Britton, the son of Ralph Howard and Bessie Mae (Groves) Britton, was born May 22, 1930 in Sioux City IA. He was raised on a farm near Sioux City and had 12 siblings. He attended school in Sioux City. He was married to the love of his life, Charlotte (Porter) on September 23, 1950. He enlisted into the United States Army in 1951 and proudly served in the Korean Conflict until he was honorably discharged in 1952 and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was honored to be chosen as a participant on the Korean Honor Flight to Washington DC.
Clifford and Charlotte made their first home in Sioux City. To this marriage they had four children, Linda, Rick, Roger and Laura. After returning from Korea, he worked at Carpenter Paper Company as a warehouse man in Sioux City and transferred to Spencer in 1967 as a salesman. He started in 1977 as the Store Manager of the Modern Business Office Supply store in Spencer and later transferred to the Sheldon location and was there until the closing in 1992. He then worked at The Print Shop in Sheldon until he retired in 1996.
He and Charlotte became fulltime RVers and have enjoyed meeting their many friends wintering in Texas and working as custodians for the Army Corps of Engineers at Saylorville Lake Recreation area, which he did right up to his passing.
Clifford enjoyed ballroom dancing, attending his grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities, He loved socializing with ALL their friends in Iowa and Texas. He was loved by everyone that met him.
Clifford passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at the Mercy One Hospital in Des Moines, IA at the age of 90.

Clifford is preceded in death by his son Roger Britton and grandson, Michael Britton. His parents, mother-in-law, Anna (Fuller) Porter, father-in-law, Walter Porter, brothers, Laverne, Harold, Lloyd and Steve: sisters, Daisy, Charlotte, Ruth, Rosella, Sharon. Sister-in-laws, Betty Wieck, Beatrice Lilly, and Evelyn Morgan, brother-in-law, Jim Porter.
