Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady’s of the Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, 510 E 1st St, Ankeny, IA 50021. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Our Lady’s of the Immaculate Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Brethren Cemetery in rural Elkhart, Iowa following the mass.
Charles Robert Hutton was born on August 10, 1958 to Asa James Sr. and Lovetta “Betty” Lorine (Blair) Hutton in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Ankeny High School in 1977. He later graduated from DMACC with two Associates of Science Degrees. Charles was united in marriage to Suzanne Marie Sager on July 18, 1998 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a Voice Engineer for Trinity Health and MercyOne Hospitals.
Charles had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed smoking brisket and pork shoulders, lunches with friends, gardening, riding his Harley motorcycle and loving his pets. Most of all, Charles dearly loved spending time with his family. He was a Member of Our Lady’s of the Immaculate Heart Catholic Church and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, MSGR J.M. Hanson Council 5038 in Ankeny.
Charles is survived by his wife, Suzanne Hutton; siblings, Mary Jo (Keith) Downey of Laramie, WY, Sue (Jim) Davidson of Berwick, Asa Jr. (Glennice) Hutton of Ankeny, Betsy (Willis) Huff of Ankeny, and Joy (Tom) Mitchell of Ankeny; step children, Heather (Chris) Maland, Kimber (Michael) Schneider of Castle Rock, CO, and Jeff Hill; step grandchildren, Stephanie, Willo, Lauren and Carson, and two step great grandchildren, Daxton and Genevieve. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Leslie Hutton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, 5452 NE 22nd St, Des Moines, IA 50313 or Our Lady’s of the Immaculate Heart Catholic Church, 510 E 1st St, Ankeny, IA 50021, in loving memory of Charles.
