Brian Ronald Udstrand, 60, passed away on June 28, 2021, suddenly at his home in Ankeny, Iowa.
A celebration of life and inurnment will be in Minnesota at a date to be determined.
Brian was born to Ronald and Sandra (Mosbeck) Udstrand in Minnesota on March 1st, 1961. He will be remembered for his love of nature, especially wolves, the Minnesota Viking and Twins, rock music, drag racing, the DFL, and his dogs. Brian was born in Thief River Falls, Minnesota but spent his early years in Riverside, California. Brian and his family returned to St. Louis Park, Minnesota in the early 1970’s. Brian graduated from St. Louis Park High School in 1979 and the University of Minnesota with a degree in Psychology in 1991. Brian married Karen (Weisberg) Ell in 1985 and they had 2 children, Sarah Elizabeth, and James Brian. Brian enjoyed being a dad and sharing with his children his love of science (loved the Science Museum), movies (Dances with Wolves) comedy shows and attending anime conventions with James. He enjoyed working with computers both at home and at work. In July 2017, Brian relocated to Iowa and married Traci Myers Ramer on 10/6/18. Traci and Brian enjoyed concerts, football games and the rivalry between Dallas Cowboy (her) and Minnesota Vikings (him) and being company for one another.
Brian was a true maverick, a unique individual who could always be counted on to go his own way. This was reflected in one of Brian’s favorite sayings “I reject your reality and substitute my own”.
Brian is preceded in death by his parents Ronald Arthur Udstrand and Sandra Gayle Steffens.
Brian is survived by his wife, Traci Udstrand; children, Sarah Elizabeth and James Brian; sister, Shelly (Richard) Rohwer; and nieces, Kayla (Nick) McGraw, Stephanie Rohwer, and Lindsay Rohwer.
