Alicia Jerry Giebelstein

Alicia Jerry Giebelstein, age 93, of Des Moines, Iowa formerly of Ames, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, October 21st, 2023 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Alicia was born in Ames, Iowa on June 27th, 1930 to Mary Blanch (Bentley) and Joseph Hotchkiss.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date.

Alicia graduated from Ames High School in 1947. Shortly after high school graduation, Alicia married Victor Bruce Giebelstein in Ames, Iowa on January, 24th, 1948. There were three children to this union, Beverly Joy, Jerry Bruce, and Andrew Jon.

Alicia worked with Dr. Bill Buck at his dentistry practice. Later she worked for Mid-Iowa Community Action in their offices. Then Alicia worked at a Central Iowa Urology office in Des Moines, Iowa. Alicia retired from working in 1995.

In her spare time, Alicia volunteered at the free medical clinic in Des Moines, Iowa during her working years and retirement. Alicia was a member of New Life Church in Pleasant Hill, Iowa, and was also a member of the church’s canasta group. She enjoyed playing cards, board games, puzzles, dancing and singing but most of all, she loved to spend time with her family and talking with family and friends on the phone and sitting outside on her porch with her dog, Honey, watching the birds and squirrels.

Alicia was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Blanch (Bentley) and Joseph Hotchkiss, and her brothers, Donald Hotchkiss and Kenny Hotchkiss. She was survived by her daughter, Beverly Joy Giebelstein-Larson (Michael Anderson), her sons, Jerry Bruce (Rhonda Jo) Giebelstein, Andrew Jon Giebelstein (Gretchen Given), her six grandchildren, Barry Bruce Giebelstein, Anthony Jerry Giebelstein, Haley Jo Giebelstein- Eveland (Ross), Zoe Ann (Justin) Giebelstein-Shill, Tiffany Joy (Gareth) Olson, Dominic Andrew Klen-Giebelstein, her nine great grandchildren, and her dog, Honey.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family in memory of Alicia.
