Patricia Ann Duthoy, born February 26, 1931 on a farm in rural, southwest Minnesota, passed away on November 13, 2022. She was the youngest of 8 children born to Lawrence and Susan Heinis. When Pat was in fifth grade, the family moved to Russell, MN, where Pat attended Russell School. She later attended Mankato State University and received her teaching credential upon graduation. Her first teaching post was in the Native American Reservation of Winnebago, MN. Patricia Heinis married Raymond Duthoy, the best friend of her brother, Gene, on June 27, 1953. For approximately 9 years, Ray and Pat owned and operated Duthoy Drug in their hometown of Russell, MN. Pat taught children with special needs while also helping to run the drugstore and raising their growing family. In 1962, Patricia and Ray took on a new adventure and moved to Anaheim, CA. At that time, Pat had never been west of South Dakota, she had never flown on an airplane, and she had never lived beyond a 3-hour drive from her family. This move changed all of that! She bravely flew solo to California with five children to meet Ray and see the place that would become her home for almost 62 years. In 1963, Patricia began teaching at St. Justin Martyr Catholic School. She was passionate about her vocation and devoted countless hours to making creative lesson plans for classrooms that contained over 60 students. Growing up as the children of “Mrs. Duthoy,” we could never go anywhere without a previous or current student stopping us to say hello. Pat continued to teach for 50 years at St. Justin Martyr school, retiring in 2013. Her talents were far-reaching, and she has left a vast legacy. She loved music and played multiple instruments. She would tease our dad that her “boyfriend,” Andy Williams, was waiting just around the corner to sweep her off her feet. Our home was filled with music and many dance parties, where we would push the furniture back and Polka around the house with our parents leading the way. Patricia is survived by her five children, Ramona (Dale) Boehm, Terance (Marcia) Duthoy, Kevin (Carmen) Duthoy, Brenda (Tom) Reynolds and Denise (John) Barganski, 18 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, her grandson, Jereme, her parents and siblings. Vigil and rosary will be held at 7:00 PM on December 7, 2022, at Sacred Heart Mission Church, 10852 Harcourt Ave., Anaheim, CA. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on December 9, 2022, at St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church. Please consider a gift to the St. Justin Martyr School scholarship fund in Patricia Duthoy’s name. (2050 W. Ball Road, Anaheim, CA 92804, Attn: Mrs. Delaya, Principal)
