Willene was born 1930, to Leo and Leah (Battin) Mitchell in Bloomfield, Iowa. She graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1948. After graduating, she married Lloyd Fisher. They moved to Pulaski, Iowa, together they had 2 children, Cynthia and James. Willy and Lloyd later divorced. Willy later met and married Paul Selian. They resided in Des Moines, where there daughter was born; and later moved to Ankeny, Iowa.
Willy worked at Iowa Methodist hospital in Housekeeping in Des Moines for 5 years before relocating to Ames, Iowa in 1974, where she met and married Gerald (Jerry) Marvin. Together they ran Jerry’s Portable Welding; and Willy was also a school crossing guard in Ames for several years. After Jerry’s death in 1985, she started working at McFarland Clinic, she retired from there after 22 years of service in 2008.
Willene had a full life, she was a real people person, she could talk to anyone, and she always did! She loved her family and her fur babies. She had made many friends/neighbors along her journey. She will be missed so much!
Willy is survived by her kids, Cynthia Fisher of Ames, James (Kathy) Fisher of Knoxville, IA and Sona Selian Cornelis of Ames. Grandkids Sarah Cornelis and Ryan Cornelis of Ames. Great grandson Ezra Cornelis of Story City, IA and former son in law, Jim Cornelis of Ames.
