Victor Theodore (Ted) Birdseye, 91, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Westhaven Community in Boone, IA.
Ted was born March 15, 1931 to Vic and Nita Birdseye in Grants Pass, OR. He grew up in Oregon on the family dairy farm. He graduated from Medford High School in 1950. He served one year in the US Army and was honorably discharged because he was needed on the farm.
Ted married Beverly Ann Abbott May 10, 1952. Together they had 4 children: Victor Theodore II (Teddy), Cynthia, Mark, and Lori. Ted and Bev resided most of their married life in Ames, IA. He attended Iowa State University graduating in 1964 with a BS in Engineering. He worked for General Filter Company in Ames for 30 years. After retiring, Ted spent several years with Habitat for Humanity. He was also active with Pleasant Grove Church.
He enjoyed travelling, working on the family ranch in Oregon, tying flies and fishing, horses, photography, and spending time with family.
Ted moved to Westhaven Community in Boone in 2018 suffering from dementia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vic and Nita Birdseye, and his wife, Beverly. He is survived by their children: Teddy (Ariel) of Butte Falls, OR; Cynthia (Brad) O’Neal of Boone, IA; Mark (Kim) of Tabernash, CO; Lori (Kevin) Tryon of Story City, IA; his sister Mary Anne Doty of Eugene, OR; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be 10 am on August 20 at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Visitation will begin at 9 am until service time. Burial of the cremated remains will be at Ames Municipal Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Pleasant Grove Church.
As he celebrates with the Lord, we will miss him on earth!
