Funeral Service is going to be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at Stevens Memorial Chapel, 607 28th Street, Ames, Iowa 50010. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery following the service. Lisa was born on January 22, 1955, in Sac City, IA to Neil and Ulla (Valtari) Griffin. She grew up in Odebolt, IA and was graduated from Odebolt-Arthur in 1973. She completed her undergraduate degree at Buena Vista College in 1977, and she achieved her master’s degree in special education from Iowa State University in 1985. She married Paul Clark of rural Ames in 1981 and this union was blessed with two children: Brian and Ann. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Story City, and she was a lifelong member of P.E.O. Sisterhood.
Lisa worked in education for 37 years. She first started teaching in Boxholm, then taught in Grimes, and eventually was a special education teacher at Roland-Story after she and Paul settled in the area. She finished her career as a special ed consultant for Heartland AEA, working there for 20 years through various districts in central IA and retiring in 2014.
Lisa will be remembered for her kind, cheerful and friendly nature. She always enjoyed people and laughing at the silly things in life. Lisa was an avid book reader. She was enthusiastic about traveling the world with lifelong friends, and she was an ardent scrapbooker. Lisa loved dogs and cats, and she always enjoyed spending time with friends and loved ones. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
Lisa is survived by her husband Paul of Story City, son Brian of Ames, daughter Ann of Westminster, CO, and brother Dan (Barb) Griffin of Elizabeth, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, Neil and Ulla.
