Wanda grew up in Oklahoma and Texas, later moving to California before returning to Amarillo to raise her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who always made time for those she loved. Whether it was with a cup of coffee, a homemade meal, or simply listening at any hour of the day or night, Wanda was always there when you needed her.
Her vibrant personality shone through in all she did. She expressed her creativity through photography, crocheting, quilting, sewing, and genealogy, pouring love into each project. From 2005 to 2020, Wanda was affectionately known as “The Best” shampoo tech, cherished by her clients for her warm heart and extraordinary skill. Her passion for caring for others extended beyond her family and friends to everyone she met.
Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, A. A. and Leona Stone; three brothers, Leo Stone and wife Sandy, Bobby Stone, and Roy “Smokey” Stone; one sister, Audrey Vaugh and husband Don; and one brother-in-law, Troy Pope.
She is survived by her sister, Ruth “Helen” Pope; her four children: Darla Seager (children, Chris McKenzie and family, Zoraya Easley and family), Verlene Hill (sons, Austin Hill and family and Trent Hill and family), Susan Baker (sons, Brian Sanning and family and Todd Sanning and family), and Randy Baker (son, Kevin Baker and family, and daughter, Heather Bruce and family). She also leaves behind two sisters-in-law, Glenda Stone and Sandy Stone, many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and a vast extended family of cousins and friends whom she dearly loved.
Wanda will be remembered as a caring leader of her family and community, always putting others before herself. Her love, generosity, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
