Sylvia Anderson

Sylvia Joan Anderson was an incredible woman, wife, mother and grandmother who spent her time on this earth sowing love into other people's lives. She was born October 28, 1935, in Miami, AZ, and was married to her husband, LJ Anderson, for 65 years. Together they had 4 children, 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She passed away at the age of 83 on December 27, 2018, in Carrollton, TX.

Sylvia, daughter of Bessie & Charles Kuykendall, grew up in Arizona and then Washington state. In Washington, she met and married LJ Anderson of Haskell, TX. The couple then lived a short while in California during which time she worked as a switchboard operator. Soon they moved back north and started their family. While residing in Washington and Oregon, they had 3 sons, Paul, Charles and Mark.

LJ and Sylvia moved their young family south and west, living in Oklahoma, Texas and Arizona where they had their daughter, Karyn. They finally settled in Amarillo, TX, and built a successful business, Anderson Automotive/B&W Battery Company, which is still in operation today.

Sylvia was a tireless mother who thoroughly enjoyed her children and their friends, kept her home clean and cooked all her family's meals from scratch. Everyone acquainted with Sylvia, knew her generous spirit, her loving kindness, her happy countenance and her beautiful smile. She was a joy.

You were a songbird. Our home was always filled with your lovely voice. We learned beautiful songs from your childhood days and young adult life which still run through our minds and make us smile.

You were the most generous person we've ever known. Whether it was a belonging you liked or even loved, if someone admired it, you'd give it to them without a second thought.

You had an irrepressible good humor. No matter the situation, you naturally found something in it that would make you giggle, even if at yourself.

You taught us how to love unconditionally. We always knew no matter where we were geographically or internally, you loved us without question and without ceasing.

Even in your last season on this Earth when you were bedridden and displaced from your home and the daily comfort of your family, your true spirit shone through. Your most oft repeated phrases to everyone who came into your presence were full of kindness and gratitude still: "Thank you" and "I love you" filled your speech to the end.

What a perfect example of a lady you were to us. You are forever in our hearts and minds as the most beautiful, kind and gracious woman we will ever have the privilege to know, and we will always love you a bushel and a peck.
