Shirley Jean Douglas was born January 2, 1939 to Dorothy and Harry Wheeler. She entered into rest on May 28, 2021. Shirley met Darrell Douglas when she was 15 years of age. When Darrell joined the National Guard and went to boot camp in Arkansas, he wrote love letters to her and she saved them all. They married on December 18, 1957.
They had two children Brenda and Troy. Shirley traveled the nation with Darrell, family and friends on racing adventures, she had a love for racing for 23 years. In her early years she worked for two elementary schools and one Christian school as the secretary. Then went to work for First Federal Savings & Loans. In 1977 she worked with Darrell at his auto repair shop “Douglas Motors” until it sold in 1990. She worked at First Bank of the Southwest until her retirement.
Shirley attended Victory Church for approximately 27 years, until her health issues no longer made it possible to attend. She loved her family and friends but most of all she loved Jesus and tried to spread his love with anyone who would listen.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband Darrell and a sister Vivian Henwood.
Left to cherish her memories are her children: Troy Douglas and wife Michele and Brenda Babcock and Four grandchildren Christopher and Colby Douglas and Candace Babcock and Braden Elliott. Three great grandchildren Braden, Brenlie and Rayce. The family would like to thank Jessica Wilson, Brenda, Jaquioa, Chauna and Kelly for the excellent care they gave to Shirley during her time with them.
