He was born January 25, 1932, youngest of 8 children, born at home at a cotton farm to Joe and Albina Holubec in Rowena, Texas.
Melton was the first in his family to graduate from college at Texas A&M with a degree in agricultural Science. While at A&M he was a member of Ross Volunteers, he was also the commander of the last Freshman Band. He played the trombone for the “Fighting Texas Aggie” band. After graduation from A&M, he married Beverly Ann Griffith on June 11, 1954. Melton joined the Air Force and became a Lt. Colonel (USAF), retired as such. Wing Academic Advisor, Department of Educational Methods, and Academic Instructor and Allied Officer School. Decorations: Bronze Star Medal, AF Commendation Medal W/Oak leaf cluster, RVN Armed Forces Training Medal, First Class AF Outstanding Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal (W/2 BSS), Air Force Expert Markmanship, Air Force Longevity Service Award, and RVN Campaign Medal. Melton worked as a Teacher for Hereford High School starting in 1980, he changed the lives of many young minds in Hereford, Texas.
He is survived by his wife; Beverly Ann Holubec, daughters; Rhonda Michelle Carty, Melody Ann Abegglen, and Melinda Kaye Shultz, son; Robert Allen Holubec,13 Grandchildren, and 15 Great- Grandchildren.
Melton is preceded in death by his parents; Joe Holubec and Albina Urban Holubec, 7 siblings, son; Michael Anthony Holubec, grandson; Christopher Sean Hulubec.
Melton will be missed by both family and friends.
