Mary Wiseman Simms

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Park Place Towers Retirement Center, 1300 S. Harrison St., in Amarillo with Jerry Bell, chaplain, officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40.

Mary passed into the Lord's arms on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at her home in Amarillo. She was born in Amarillo on Aug. 10, 1925, to Irwin and Catherine Wiseman and graduated from Dumas High School.

She married Ben F. Simms on June 15, 1947. Mary was proud of her Panhandle and farming heritage. She loved gardening, collecting stamps and her beloved pets.

Mary loved her Lord and her church, First Baptist Church of Amarillo. She was at peace as she passed into heaven, while a great-grandson was entering this life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben F. Simms, 10 years ago on April 18, 2001.

Survivors include a son, Michael Wade Simms and wife Janie of Amarillo; two granddaughters, Leslie and Jeff Tillerson of Irving and Pamela and Michael Root of San Jose, Calif.; three great-grandchildren, Bailey, Adam and Noah; and a brother, Jimmy Wiseman and wife Joyce of Dumas.

The family suggests memorials be to Willow Creek Kennels, in care of Happy State Bank, 701 S. Taylor St., Suite 120, Amarillo, TX 79101; or Window on the Plains Museum, 1820 S. Dumas Ave., Dumas, TX 79029.

The family will receive friends at 6401 Willow Oak Place in Amarillo.
