Marvin F. Schulte, 83 of Amarillo passed away August 22, 2014. Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Memorial Park Funeral Home, Chapel of Memories. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Haider Quintero as Celebrant. Mass of Christian burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 I-40 East. Marvin was born July 3, 1931 in Mary’s Home, Missouri. He was the second of eleven children born to Richard and Katie Schulte. Marvin married Helen Ackfeld on July 6, 1954. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Marvin retired from the US Postal Service after many dedicated years of employment. Marvin was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer. He was active in Boy Scouts with his sons. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters Marcela Kish, Katherine Kliethermes, Janice Ann Schulte and Alice Marie Schulte. Survivors include his wife Helen, children, James Schulte and wife Janet of Amarillo, David Schulte of Amarillo, Greg Schulte and wife Donna of Rowlett, and Pam Detwiler and husband Bill of San Angelo. Grandchildren include Christopher Schulte, Nicholas Schulte, Katie Schulte, Sarah Schulte and fiancé Jimi Mills, Shelby Schulte, and Megan Detwiler. Other survivors include Marvin’s siblings, Dorothy May Lueckenhoff and husband Fred, Pat Schulte and wife Betty, Patsy Bax and husband Giles, Melvin Schulte and wife Delores, James Schulte and wife Mary Alice, R.J. Schulte and wife Gloria, and a brother-in-law Bill Kliethermes. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the staff of Heritage Convalescent Center for their dedicated care of Marvin for the past four years and also a big thanks to BSA Hospice for their care over the past few months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Blessed Sacrament building fund, BSA Hospice, or Boy Scouts of America.
