John was born on October 9, 1946 in Amarillo, Texas to James Sherman Judge and Verva Zoe Klingman-Judge. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1965 and received a scholarship in music to attend the University of Houston, where he played the trumpet in the Houston Symphony and graduated in 1969. John furthered his education by attending law school at Texas Tech University and received his doctoral degree in 1975. John practiced law in Amarillo and later moved his practice to Austin, where he resided in Dripping Springs. In 2020, he returned back to Amarillo to be closer to family.
John was very knowledgeable person. A lawyer in Amarillo that he once trained said that he was “a good force.” He helped a lot of people throughout his career. He had a host of many special interests, including singing, listening to music of all sorts and his incredible way for telling stories. He was also very kind and had the biggest heart, especially for children, whom he loved so dearly. John took after his own Father and could be quite ornery at times as well. He was always the go-to guy for anyone who needed good advice. John will always be remembered for his beautiful smile. When he smiled, his whole face lit up.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Zoe Judge; his brother, James Sherman Judge Jr; sister-in-law, Margene Judge; his wife, Lynn Judge and their daughter, Aimee Ann Burton
