She was a beloved mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and Christian. Joan was born in Tyler, Texas on December 22, 1931 to W.C. and Lyora Annel Stallings. Joan was mother to Deborah Barrick and husband Bruce, Caroline Ashton and husband Jay, and Glen Sittel and wife Kristina. She raised her children with love and devotion in both Amarillo and Cypress, CA with her beloved husband Melvin C. Sittel.
As a medical secretary, Joan was known for the love for her patients and the doctors she worked for. She loved to sew, and after retiring, she and Melvin traveled extensively, not only the country, but the world. She loved to paint with both oils and acrylics. Joan was an accomplished bridge player but also loved playing all types of games, especially with her closest friends, better known as "Daddy's Girls". Joan loved the Lord and her longtime church home, St. Stephen Church of Amarillo. Sunday School, Snack Pak 4 Kids, and Golden Spread Emmaus were just a few of her passions.
Aside from the children she adored, Joan is survived by her loving grandchildren, Tamara Lane, Barrett Lane and wife Vicky, Danielle Lloyd and husband Randy, Jayson Ashton and wife RaeAnna, Lauren Sittel, Matthew Sittel and wife Michelle, and Amanda Long and husband Lance; along with 12 great grandchildren, Staylee and Caleb Lane, Colson and Jace Lloyd, Jaydon and Anniston Ashton, Carlin and Emmett Sittel, Jaxson, Elijah and Shiloh Long, and Ava Barrick Cooper.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin, and grandson, Gabriel Barrick.
