He was born June 16,1947 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Walter and Roberta Burton.
On June 24,1967 he married the love of his life, Vicki Ward and together they raised three children. Gary worked for ASARCO in management for 45 years before retiring with the company. He loved fishing, hunting, trap-shooting, gambling and was a wiz when it came to working on clocks and cars. Gary had a big heart, and always loved to help anyone who needed it. He loved his sidekick, Ellie May who went everywhere he went. Gary loved being around his grandchildren, they held a special place in his world.
He is survived by his loving wife; Vicki Burton, two sons; Randy Burton and wife Shelia of Amarillo, and Chris Burton and wife Kathy of Amarillo, one daughter; Kimberly Ross and husband Dale of Levelland, 9 grandchildren; Victoria Gilchrist of Stinnett, Elizabeth Dockins and husband Brett of Amarillo, Alexandria Gilchrist of El Paso, Andrew Burton of Amarillo, Adriana Rodriguez of Lubbock, Jacob Rodriguez of Levelland, Hunter Burton of Amarillo, Chris Burton of Amarillo, and Bailee Burton of Amarillo, two great-grandchildren; Elijah Garcia of Lubbock, and Valentine Guerrero of El Paso, one sister; Judi Whiddon of Amarillo, one brother; Larry Burton and wife Judi, and his dog; Ellie May.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents; Walter and Roberta Burton.
He will be missed by both his family and friends.
