She was born on Jan. 3 1927 in Hartshorne Okla. to Bill and Sallie Colbert Tucker. For most of her adult life she was a homemaker. In later years, she was a cafeteria worker at various schools in Amarillo and next a furniture salesperson at Amarillo Hardware and American Furniture.
Mom was a caring and loving Wife, Mother, Sister and, Grandmother who was loved by all her family. She was very proud of her Native American heritage. She was an Elder of the Chickasaw Nation.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ernest Whalen Sr., brothers Thomas, Jerry, Buddy, and Buster Tucker, her son and his wife Johnny and Sharon Ellis, and Grandson Jamey Hatch.
She is survived by a son Ernest Whalen Jr.(Diane), daughters Lila Hamby(Buddy), Sally Hatch Bell, and Kathy Whalen, Brother Pat Tucker and sister Betty Garrity. Grandchildren Sherry Bowers, Jodie Houck, Karon Hamby, Brandi Whalen, Jason and Beau Bell. 4 Great grandsons and 6 Great granddaughters, and 1 Great Great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
