Ernesto "Ernie" Cervantez, age 66, of Amarillo, Texas passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022. Ernie was born July 21, 1955 to Silvestre and Ofelia Cervantez in Amarillo. He married Marie Rankin in 1995 in Amarillo.
Ernie worked for Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe for 43 years where he worked as a car inspector. Ernie was a kind, loving & giving man.
Ernie is preceded in death by his loving parents Ofelia & Silvestre Cervantez.
Ernie is survived by his children, little Ernie & Alicia Thompson of Columbus, Indiana & Matthew Cervantez from Fort Worth, three sisters Oralia & husband Lance Garcia, Maria & husband Arnold DeLeon, Cecilia & husband Johnny Rodriguez all of Amarillo, TX, Dana & husband J.D. Ward, Allen Dale & wife Nicole Rankin of Amarillo and a very special furry friend "little one". He is also survived by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
You could always find Ernie playing the guitar & learning new songs! He will be deeply missed by all who knew & loved him!
A visitation for Ernie will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St, Amarillo, Texas 79109. A rosary will occur Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 10:00 AM, 5400 Bell St, Amarillo, Texas 79109. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 11:00 AM, 5400 Bell St, Amarillo, Texas 79109. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 12:30 PM at Llano Cemetery, 2900 S Hayes St, Amarillo, Texas 79103.
