The Winn family would like to acknowledge with great sadness the passing of Eris Dwayne Winn. Eris was born on December 16th 1959 in Amarillo Texas. He attended Caprock High School. In his athletic years Eris was an avid football player and a remarkable baseball player. Eris married Karla Winn and began a career with the Amarillo Police Academy. Together, he and Karla had two boys, Cody Brent Winn and Derek Scott Winn. Eris’ main pride was his two boys.
Eris is survived by his mother Wilfidita Winn. His ex wife, and best friend Karla Winn of Amarillo. His two sons Cody Winn, of Amarillo, and Derek Winn and partner Isaac Vallejo of Las Vegas, NV. His brothers Jerry Winn and wife Lois Winn, Bryan Winn and wife Teresa Winn, and Jimmy Winn of Amarillo, TX as well as many nieces and nephews. Karla, Derek, and Cody would like to express their deepest gratitude to Ashley Connelly, daughter of Bryan and Teresa, for being a guardian angel to them by offering dedicated care as Eris prepared for the next journey.
Eris is preceded in death by his sister, Stacey Mayer of Amarillo, TX. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to the Amarillo Downtown Women's Center. A direct link to their donation page can be found below.
Services will be held Friday July 22nd at 2:00 PM at Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Home located at 5400 Bell St. Amarillo, TX 79109.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Terry Barnes, Bryan Winn, Braiden Brittain-Winn, Skyler Winn and Dallas Winn.
