Lynn (The Toolman) Thompson was born February 28, 1947, in Erick, Oklahoma to Edwin and
Gwen Thompson. He grew up in Amarillo, Texas with his beloved little brother Stewart. Lynn was a Sandie until Caprock High School opened from which he graduated in 1965. While in high school he began his "a(printer)ship" at a local print shop. At the shop he met the love of his life, printing. Five years later he met Janice, a close second. Along the way he earned his Bachelor's in Computer Programing from West Texas A&M University in 1970. Back then a computer was the size of a room and if a mistake was made, a date with the machine had to be scheduled that required another trip to Canyon. Upon graduating, he discovered that more money could be made by printing (NOT counterfeiting!) than through computer programing. Thus began a 40 year career as a printer, where this "extra money" came in handy when he married Janice in 1975. In September 1982 along came Erin. 15 month later Travis ... and 16 months after that? Surprise! Shelley. They had 3 brilliant, beautiful babies in two and a half years. Janice would budget Christmas money and wrap slips of paper which said, "Your yearbook was paid for!", and Lynn would use his bonus to buy actual gifts like Mall Madness, Dream Phone, and Omega Virus. Although a printer by trade, he collected titles for his toolbox along the way; mechanic, electrician, carpenter, wood worker, plumber, IT guy, magician (to his grandkids) and cruise director. Lynn and Janice became quite the world travelers. She would say she would like to go somewhere, and the hunt was on! He loved the research and bargain hunting, and even occasionally, the trip. In fact, the day he passed they were supposed to be visiting a Volcano in Hawaii, and Janice said to him "I Lava you a lot!" Of all his accomplishments, his greatest were husband, dad, grandaddy. And if there's nothing to fix in heaven, he will find something to take apart and see how it works.
He is survived by his wife; Janice Lynn Fort Thompson, son; Travis Neil Thompson, daughters; Erin Lynn Thompson Wiemers, Shelley Thompson Trook, grandchildren; Alfred (20), Addison (12),Kaleb (9), Wyatt (7), Emmalyn (1), brother; Stewart Thompson.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Edwin and Gwendolyn Thompson.
Edwin will be missed by both family and friends.
