Cheryl Ann Lindsay Parker, 57, walked peacefully into eternity with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 26, 2022 in Amarillo, Texas. Cheryl was born on January 8, 1965 to Ronald and Billie Lindsay, the third of five children. She become “Mommy” in 1992 and 1996, and joyfully accepted the role of “Grandmommy” in 2016 and 2018.
Cheryl was an alumna of Crescenta Valley High School in La Crescenta, California, and a proud Wildcat from Abilene Christian University, where she earned her Bachelors degree in Social Work. She served as a case worker for Texas Health and Human Services for many years, providing assistance for those in need. She had a heart full of love for people---especially those whom she called friends and family.
Cheryl loved to craft! For years, she compiled beautiful scrapbooks filled with memories of her children and grandchildren. She also loved building puzzles with her sisters, sewing and cross-stitching, and was a voracious reader! Cheryl had a playful personality, often having car dance parties with her daughter and tickle-monster fights with her granddaughters. She thought her son was the funniest guy around and loved watching him interact with his nieces. Cheryl’s favorite color was purple; she loved tulips, relaxing manicures and pedicures, craft shopping, and sipping Starbucks Frappuccino's.
Most importantly, Cheryl lived her life for the Lord. She was never shy or ashamed of her faith in Jesus Christ, which was passed down to her through a legacy of faithfulness demonstrated in her parents and grandparents. She loved Jesus with all her heart and her family rejoices in the knowledge that she is fully healed, happy, and safe with her Savior in Heaven. In Cheryl’s own words, “Whatever is happening in my life, God is already at work putting the pieces together. In the midst of circumstances that have me baffled, wondering what I am going to do or how I am going to go on, I rest assured knowing that God’s power and sovereign control is already at work. I don’t know how my story will unfold, but I know God has a plan for me. I live under the careful, gracious, sovereign hand of my God and the movements of time and history tick off according to His plan exactly as He ordained.”
Cheryl’s legacy of love continues in the lives of her best friend and daughter Lindsay Parker Walton, her beloved son Aaron Parker, her treasured son-in-law Ryder Dale Walton, and her precious granddaughters (or “preshies” as she liked to say) Aliza and Alivia Walton. She will also be missed by her mother Billie Lindsay, her big sister and brother-in-law Margaret and Michael Dicus, her big brother and sister-in-law Edwin and Carri Lindsay, her little sister and brother-in-law Marie and Pierce Kidder, her little brother Lance Lindsay, her former husband and friend Steven Parker and all of his family, her cherished nieces and nephews, and all of her other family and friends who loved her so well.
Cheryl was met at Heaven’s gates by one of her greatest loves, her Dadi, Ronald Lindsay, and her sweet father-in-law, Mervin Parker.
At this time, the family will be having a private graveside service for Cheryl and will have a “Celebration of Life” service at a later date when more family members and friends can be in attendance.
