Anna Mae Hays, 96, of Mansfield, Texas passed away July 3rd , 2020 at her Granddaughter’s home with her family by her side. God whispered her name; she is now in the dazzling presence of our Lord and Savior. Anna Mae was born April 11th, 1924 in Watonga, Oklahoma to Phillip and Sarah Morlan.
She married Leonard Leroy Hays on January 1, 1947 in Wellington Kansas. She always said he was the love of her life. Leonard told Anna Mae they were “a match made in heaven”. Family was always the most important thing in their lives, and they enjoyed every minute spent with one another, or the countless family members. (Some not even related) Anna Mae and Leonard enjoyed entertaining at their Amarillo home of over 45 years. They were the happiest when their home was full of children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles which they did as often as possible.
She was preceded in death by husband Leonard, infant son Phillip Leroy, brother Phillip Morlan Jr., and her Mother and Father.
She will be missed by her two daughters, Rita Watson (Jerre deceased) of Mansfield, TX, and Anna Holland (Richard) of Waco, TX. Eight Grandchildren, Teresa Whisnant (Richard) of Nokomis, FL, Kevin Watson (Lesley) Prosper, TX, Richard Holland II (Edye) Amarillo, TX, Brian Roskelly (Amari) Mansfield, TX, Angela Faseler (Tye) Mansfield, TX, Brinton Holland, US Navy Base, Guam, Jonathan Watson (Elizabeth) Dallas, TX, Brannan Holland (Shelby) Katy, TX. Fourteen Great Grandchildren Brittney (Andrew), Kameron, Hannah, Kaelan, Mason, Zeven, Lily, Cooper, Cadence, Kanaan, Abby, Scarlett, Liam, Maxwell.
She was also close and thought the world of her nieces and nephew, Verbena (deceased), Evan (deceased), Cathy, Buddy, Agnes, and Dean as well as her great niece Micah, and son Michael.
Anna Mae enjoyed her summer visits from her cousin Hazel Gordon of Missouri, and her family. Hazel was more like her sister then a cousin. She loved all her relatives from Clinton and Watonga Oklahoma and always looked forward to their visits.
She was a member of the San Jacinto Baptist Church which later became the Church of Quail Creek where she taught the 4-year olds at Sunday School for over 40 years. Anna Mae was a mother to many and a friend to all, she lived to take care of her family and friends. As Anna Mae was fond of saying, “Good night and God bless you.”
