Bud was born Sept. 12, 1940, in Amarillo, where he also was raised. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1959. He went to Amarillo College and served in the Army Reserve.
He owned Allison Blacksmith and Welding. He was the third-generation owner of Allison Welding, which is now owned by his son, Jim Wyatt. He was a lifelong member and dedicated servant of Second Baptist Church. He married his wife, Phyllis York, in 1977, and they have five children, Jim Wyatt, Babe, Gary, Brad and Amy.
He enjoyed playing, coaching and cheering for baseball games. He also loved to watch his grandchildren play in all sports, and you could always hear him cheering from the stands. He loved to be social. Whether hunting, cooking, camping or delivering makeup, he was happy to do it as long as he could talk to people. He loved to serve others by pouring coffee, washing dishes, sweeping and vacuuming. The best way to summarize Bud is that he was a man of compassion. He considered everyone equal and would never hesitate for one second to give of his time or money to anyone in need.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Herschel and Marita Allison, and an infant brother, Charles Ray Allison.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Allison; four sons, Jim Wyatt Allen and wife Lisa, Babe Allen and wife Bo, Gary Allen and wife Stacy and Brad Allison and wife Shelly, all of Amarillo; and a daughter, Amy Escamilla and husband Marlo of Amarillo; three sisters, Glenda Smyth and husband Danny, Shirley Thompson and husband Clyde and Claudia Price and husband Tony; a brother, Shorty Allison and wife Sabel; 10 grandchildren, Landon, Jordan and husband Ky, Alli and husband Dalton, Kakki, Bailey, Karley, Zach, Sydney, Allison, and Remington; and a great-granddaughter, Braylee.
The family suggests memorials be to Second Baptist Church, 419 N. Buchanan St., Amarillo, TX 79107.
