Alice will lie in state on Thursday, September 26 from 6pm to 8pm in the Griggs Schooler Gordon Funeral Home, 5400 Bell Ave. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 27 at 10am in the First Baptist Church Sanctuary, 1208 S. Tyler in Amarillo, with Dr. Howard K. Batson presiding. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery, 14200 Interstate 27 in Amarillo.
Alice was born on March 30, 1926 in Dehli, Oklahoma, 10 miles south of Sayre, Oklahoma; to Thomas and Alice Lakey. She was the youngest of four children that included one brother, William D. (Bill) Lakey, and two sisters, Opal Waters and Faye Lakey.
She married Roy C. Bryan on July 26, 1969. He preceded her in death on October 28, 1994.
Mrs. Bryan was employed with Mason & Hanger-Silas Mason Co. (Pantex Plant) as a Division Systems Specialist in the Pass & Badge, Visitor Control Section for 32 plus years. She retired in 1991.
Mrs. Bryan was active in the First Baptist Church. She loved her church and Sunday School Class (Ruth Class) very much. She served on the Welcome Committee and was a Greeter for the early services. She also was a choir member in the Heritage Choir. The church was a very important part of her life.
She was also a dedicated Mother and Grandmother and her family was a very important part of her life. She lived daily for her family and church.
She is survived by one son, Jim Holley and his wife Joni, two granddaughters, Tori Shae Flores and Tana Kay Holley; and one great grandson, AJ Flores all of Amarillo, TX. She is also survived by two nieces, Judy Sauer of Amarillo, and Phyllis Welk of Broken Arrow, OK; and three nephews, Curtis Waters of Carmel, IN, Eddie Tom Lakey and Robert Lakey both of Sayre, OK; and a host of relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husbasnd R.C. Bryan, her parents Thomas and Alice Lakey, brother William D. (Bill) Lakey; and sisters Opal Waters and Faye Lakey. She is also preceded in death by two nephews, Ricard Waters, and William D. Lakey Jr.
She also leaves behind her husband’s nephews John Bryan of Westminster, CO, Dr. Ray Hughes of Payson AZ, and Robert Hughes of Boardmore, OR who were all close to her.
