He was born on April 10, 1961 in Ishpeming, MI, to Darlene and the late Bernard Marttila; but, was brought up, along with Darlene, by his stepfather, Doug las Tackett.
Most of his career involved anything to do with cars and providing service to customers who needed help with their cars. “Customer First” was something you could always count on if he was helping you. His hobbies were fishing, sports (Go Bucs and Big Blue), NASCAR, and tinkering around vehicles of any kind.
Russ was preceded in death by his brother, Bernie, and sister, Meladie.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Leah, and his son Russell, Jr.; also by his parents, Darlene and Doug Tackett of Tampa, FL; brothers, Daniel of Tampa, FL and Steve (Donna) of Levittown, PA; and sister Debra Boltersdorf (William) of Levittown, PA. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
The last two years have been a challenge for Russ health-wise. He is out of pain now and free to be the energetic person he once was. No services will be held at his request.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home.
